UiPath is a technological tool of RPA, or Robotic Process Automation, that is commonly used for the automation of Windows desktops. What exactly is UiPath?

UiPath is a Windows Desktop Automation Robotic Process Automation tool. This tool provides a Community Edition that is free for life and works with Drag and Drop functionality. UiPath allows you to automate a variety of tasks, including Excel automation, Citrix automation, web automation, and PDF automation. In this article, we will concentrate on Web Automation.

What exactly is Web Automation?

Web Automation is a process of automating the identification and manipulation of web elements based on their attributes. This type of automation works with any website and can be remotely deployed on multiple machines throughout the network. UiPath includes a built-in recorder that can read and execute web-based activities using an easy-to-use graphical workflow editor.

Application of UiPath web automation

UiPath web automation has a wide range of applications in today’s ever-growing industries, which are listed below –
Recording – In order to take future actions and decisions, current website actions are recorded or can be recorded using the built-in recorder.
Data extraction – After extracting data, we can collect a large amount of data, also known as big data, from various websites and store it in files or databases.
Website testing – Using UiPath web automation, we can test the features and functionalities of websites based on our or our users’ needs.
Application transfer – The user’s requirements can be met by transferring applications from one domain to another.

Prerequisite for Browser Automation with UiPath

Go to your UiPath Home Page, click on Tools and then UiPath extension  to see a variety of extensions. To use the browser, we must first install the Chrome extension.

Click on the Chrome Extension to install it in your system. If it is successful, you will see the message shown below.

If you open Google Chrome, you should see a notification to enable it. If you don’t see the notification, click on the three vertical (:) dots on the right side of Google Chrome and select Extensions under More Tools.

When you click on the extensions, you will see the various types of extensions that are enabled in Google Chrome.
